Finished my first Samsung S4 screen repair. Our iCracked technical training material made this job a tedious but simple process. Our premium parts allowed completion in under 90 minutes. I would not have wanted to do a glass only repair, regardless of the profit margin. Sometimes it pays to spend a little more and get a great headstart towards the goal. Now, where is that happy customer?
I tend to think more than I should. Maybe that is why the first time that I travel some place seems to take the longest. Did I even mention that I am continually amazed at the way the universe works out perfectly? It was explained in a book by Satnam Nadeen, that life happens in spite of me, not because of me. I have this experience often.
Thinking a long time before I do something often serves me well.

Love my Wife and Kids. My daughter, Kawena, turns 1 year old this Sunday. My 7 Year old son, Ikaika, started 2nd grade this week and my soon to be ten year old daughter Kawehi started the 4th Grade. I am blogging using the Windows 10 Edge Browser, which from my persepective feels like the best Windows since 3.1.
New year, New tools. First came the Bozan Heat Plate which allows for quick and efficient removal of shattered glass from iPads. And more recently, the G-Tool which reshapes damaged corners and sides from the various Apple devices that I service.
Kawena is now standing on her own and eating baby food. I love baby food in pouches, it’s so clean and convenient. Organic too!
During my first Month of being an iCracked Tech, my business grossed 500$. Revenue of 300$ was spent re-purchasing the parts that were used, so the net profit was 200$. I had 4 completed repairs and an incomplete device buyback converted to a miscellaneous parts sale. Three of five device were iPhone 4 series and two were iPhone 5. I have purchased parts for an upcoming iPad2 repair to be completed sometime soon.
I learned that the iPhone5 is a bit easier than the iPhone 4 and that the knuckle suction cup works just as well for me as the iSlack opener. The guitar pick also proved to be the right tool for the job of separating the home button flex cable from the old digitizer on the iPhone 5. I started from the gold contacts side and met the spudger in the middle coming from the other side.
And our baby arrived…. my wife somehow worked things out that the entire round trip to the hospital was 37 hours. Out of the house at 11pm Friday night back by noon Sunday morning. Yeah baby!
If you read this far and you did not know. My wife and I are having our third child sometime later this month. In preparation for our big rush to the hospital, I visited our local car dealer and bought a new car. Why is this pertinent information? I drive old cars that breakdown fairly often. No that’s not it…
While I was in the dealership my iTech phone gave me a dispatch that I was unable to return via SMS or Voice. It did not seem strange to me at the time but I had delivered a handful of cards to my sales rep when I met him. I was applying for financing and I am self-employed. The financing offer ended that business day so I need to get this car within 3.5 hours of the initial phone call…I’m glad the stars aligned on this one.
I got the car, I got the job, now… how do I get that customer?
I completed my second repair today. Got paid for the first job and my customer was satisfied. Another dispatch came in after hours but the customer’s promise to call on Saturday to schedule a repair must have been lip service. It was a long drive anyways. My app said 12.8 miles but on an island that is 45 minutes away and I know the shortcuts! I was going to accept the job, so the dispatch would not go unclaimed and instead a new customer stepped up directly into the time slot I had allotted for my no-show. A song should be written for all the high notes the universe sings in my day.
I discovered something about myself today. I have a fear of being asked to do something that somebody else had already tried and failed. I have this projection (self imposed expectation) that people expect me to be better than others. I am not. I can be nearly as good with practice. But I am far from superior, in fact, it’s not even a goal to compete with others. I do what needs to be done. When I find a problem, I take care of it.
Now that I found the problem, an adequate solution is to believe that strangers are my brothers, and I need not fear them. He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.
Bazinga! Today was the greatest day ever! Got my first Repair Dispatch before I had even left the bed. My first customer absolutely needs my service. In fact, I have the greatest first customer imaginable. Is it a complete fix? No. Has my customer expressed explicit needs that I can fulfill? Yes! Was I able to follow the flowcharts and videos that were available to me? Well, sort of. I had to build on what I learned and use my tinker power. Undocumented technique sounds more professional. But tinker power is a better description. Since I have not yet returned my customer’s device and been paid yet, my success is not official. But to keep it real; Thank you Universe for the opportunity to serve your needs.
Day 1: Lots of new important information has been made available to me. I realize I need to hook up all the social networking and bookmarks that I will be needing to stay current with my peers.
I think that water damage may be a common issue for potential customers in my area because I live on an island surrounded by a lot of ocean. I am going to look through the iTechs WIKI and maybe search yammer for water damage. I am able to log into both of these resources after registering and confirming my email.
I found some something called a dry bag while I was window shopping at the iTech store. I should have those on hand, I will double check my iTechs kit to make sure I don’t already have one. They need to be used immediately after the damage occurs. I see lots of other great tools (read: toys) available there also.
I am going exploring in the great expanse of information presented to me. I’ll keep notes of things I want to share. And I will immediately make a post when I have received my first dispatch. I am excited to be underway towards making the twenty repairs needed to earn my iTech badge.

Our kids went with the grandparents and my wife and I had a nice take-out lunch from the Mexican Food place right in the middle..

How do I feel? Confident.
Missed a blog entry for yesterday; 11 hours at work preceded by my regular morning routine put me to bed after only half a training module completed.
Today was another matter altogether. I learned something about the training that was,at first, unsettling: if a contradiction of information occurs, the video always will override the written. That is foreign to me, I guess the training modules are a work in progress. Again, this may just be inconsistencies by design to expose cheaters. Today was the first time I needed to retake a certification exam. With grace I passed the second time, scoring 100%, but not before enduring the stress of failure. At least the training let me do the module over and issued my certification. I am relieved that there is not any severe penalty for failure.
I am keeping a list of things to be corrected within the training materials which I may decide to share with my manager. Awful pretentious of me, but not out of character. To know me is to love me…
